Troubleshooting Google Calendar Sync Issues in Reservio

Updated over 5 months ago

Our scheduling software offers seamless integration with Google Calendar, simplifying your booking process. However, if you encounter synchronization problems, this guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve them.

Step 1: Identify the Direction of the Problem

Before you start troubleshooting, it's essential to determine whether the issue lies in the synchronization from Google Calendar to Reservio or vice versa. This initial step will help you narrow down the problem and find the appropriate solution.

To identify the direction of the synchronization issue, follow these steps:

  1. Reservio to Google Sync:

    • Choose a booking created in Reservio.

    • Check if the same booking appears in your Google Calendar.

    • If the booking is present in your Google Calendar, it indicates that the synchronization from Reservio to Google is working correctly.

  2. Google to Reservio Sync:

    • In your Google Calendar, locate a personal event.

    • Check if the personal event appears in your Reservio calendar.

    • If the personal event is visible in your Reservio calendar, it suggests that the synchronization from Google to Reservio is functioning properly.

Additionally, when you review your Reservio calendar, bookings from Google are indicated in grey. Clicking on these events will reveal the source as "External event." This feature helps you quickly identify events synchronized from Google to Reservio.

Step 2: What to Do After Identifying the Problem

Once you've identified the direction of the synchronization issue and followed the appropriate steps outlined above, it's crucial to monitor the situation.

If the problem is from Google Calendar to Reservio:

  1. Check the Correct Google Calendar: First, ensure that the events you're trying to sync are created in the correct Google Calendar—the one that is synchronized with your Reservio account.

  2. Check Event Settings: Make sure that the events in your Google Calendar are set as "Busy" and "Public." These settings are essential for data flow between Google Calendar and Reservio.

  3. Disconnect and Reconnect Google Calendar: If everything seems to be set up correctly but the sync is still not working, try disconnecting your Google Calendar in Reservio settings and then reconnect it. Wait a few minutes and check if this resolves the issue.

If the problem is from Reservio to Google Calendar:

  1. Verify Staff Member Assignment: Ensure that the bookings in Reservio are correctly assigned to the staff member with Google synchronization enabled. If the bookings are assigned to the right staff member, move on to the next step.

  2. Disconnect and Reconnect Google Calendar: Just like in the previous case, if all seems to be in order but the sync is still malfunctioning, disconnect your Google Calendar in Reservio settings and then reconnect it. Waiting for a few minutes can help the synchronization process complete successfully.

Remember, synchronization issues can be caused by various factors, including network connectivity or temporary glitches. In most cases, following these steps should resolve the problem and ensure that your Reservio appointments are always in harmony with your Google Calendar.
